Banger Flies Explosive Topwater Action

Turn up the surface commotion with our hand-tied Banger Popper Flies, designed to draw vicious topwater strikes from aggressive saltwater predators. Each fly is tied by Harold at NJ Saltwater Flies to classic specs features a durable foam cylinder head wrapped in reflective tape for maximum flash, a red collar for added visual trigger, and a flowing bucktail wing (tail) that mimics a baitfish swimming action.

Originally developed by saltwater fly fishing legend Bob Popovics, the Bob’s Banger or Banger for short is a proven performer when fish are feeding on top and when a little extra commotion is needed to attract and raise a bite. Whether you’re chasing striped bass, bluefish, tarpon, or jacks, this popper-style fly creates the splash and noise as well as a profile that demands attention.

If explosive strikes and visual takes are your game, the Banger belongs in your fly box.
